I read about cold brewing coffee where you simply steep coffee grinds from 8-24 hours in room-temperature water. Ratio of coffee to water I read from many sources varied from 1:2 to 1:4 and it is supposed to make a concentrate that you dilute with water to taste.

I tried it with 1/4 cup coffee to 2 cups water and let it steep in a Mason jar since yesterday morning (~20 hours) shaking the mixture every so often. I poured it into a French press to separate the liquid from grains. Damn did it make a strong solution. The final product was blacker than any coffee I've seen and the milk I added hardly put a dent in the color since I didn't dilute the concentrate at all. I did have to heat it since the first cold sip just didn't cut it....cold coffee is for later in the day.

The coffee flavor is very strong, but there is no harsh bite or bitter afterflavors. Tastes pretty f'ing good imo. Overall, I like it.

It's nothing but cold coffee. Y'all are fooled. Step back from the light. Good coffee is good coffee. Cold coffee is cold coffee. You heated up cold coffee.

I'm stumped by it- now it's in bottles. I should have thought of that. Buy cold coffee. It still tastes cold. That diesel bottle is shit.

I love iced black coffee and drink coffee cold. It's funny that cold coffee can be marketed. Should have been on that one.

Ahhh- you mean the Kopi Luwak cat-poop coffee....good stuff.

I think the difference in cold brew coffee and hot brew coffee is similar to the difference between hot brewed tea and cold brewed tea. I think there is a difference in flavor between the two, but it could just be the difference in times the tea has contact with the water for hours vs minutes. Maybe the same for the coffee....
