I'm looking for experience with Canada Post, more specifically packages sent by International Parcel Surface, or if there is anyone here working with Canada Post who might be able to assist with more info please send a PM. I'm waiting for a deck shipped from Canada to Sweden and should mention I was never asked and would never authorize international packages sent by surface mail to save a buck. Most places I know including Sweden and since a few years the US don't even offer this and I can definitely see why. The tracking info shows records of the first week, until it left Canada, then nothing new, just in transit. The seller quoted 2-3 weeks but we are now past 5 weeks and counting and according to their website its 4-6 weeks expected delivery. Needless to say I am getting quite anxious having no info about its whereabouts for such a long time. Any help or experience with this please respond or send a PM.

In comparison my latest deck from the US was shipped Friday and arrived Tuesday, trackable from door to door, thanks again KTCQ.

I don't work for canada post but have a lot if experience with them
You coul be looking at 4 months
Sometimes you get lucky at 6 weeks
Mostly it's going to run 3+ months
There is a member here that works for canada post but I'll let him chime in
Good luck

Damn Sean, not the experience I was hoping for but appreciate it no less.

How can they keep such an ancient service in place! Not to mention how someone can opt to use it to save a buck!

Guess I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope you are wrong. Thanks again.

Yeah, my GF works for Canada post. Pretty antiquated service indeed.

It'll never be 2 weeks. I believe the last time I was quoted I was told 8 weeks to Australia. Would figure it will be the same for you. Sorry for more of the same bad news.

That ground parcel would likely go air—I don't think they're using boats anymore. However, it would sit in Vancouver or Montreal waiting for space on the plane. Sweden's Customs will add time to the trip for sure—it may already be there but hasn't cleared customs.

Expedited Service is the way to go. I can usually get a package out to Europe in less than 3 weeks. And if the shipper has a free Canada Post VentureOne card they'd get a significant discount on Expedited.

Canada Post always offers a tracking number for anything shipped oversees - it is on the receipt (even if sent surface). There is no way seller should not have one, you can verify this by calling

Canada Post At :

1-866-607-6301

Residential:
Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. ET
Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. ET

Commercial:
Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. ET

Outside of Canada:
416-979-3033

Ask the seller to send you a photo of the receipt - if he doesn't have one..... yikes!

Turns out I only needed to voice my anxiety, the same evening it got into the swedish mail system and yesterday it was delivered. I haven't seen it myself but no reported damage of any kind. Although I would still never send international surface mail.

Thanks for the replies.
