Im lost in a sea of paints!!!
Ive herd alot of things about paint for decks.
acrylic, narzard, spraypaint....
I want paint that looks professional without having to spray gloss on.
I dont wanna use spray paint for my base coat. Im thinkin about narzard, hows that look?
what do you suggest for the professional look?

| I use nazdar for my graphics, and it looks good. You are not gonna get out of spraying a coat over the graphics though, even most of the big companies do. it makes the graphics last better. Any particular reason you dont want to use paint for the base coat? it works great, looks better than alot of screen once overs and lasts better. If u dont want to , thats kool, but I swear by it. |

I used spraypaint when i was first gettin started and it works pretty well but it just figure theres a better way. Its kinda thick and stinks.
If I have to use gloss no matter what then I guess Ill just use spray paint,nazdar and spray gloss. With spraypaint I dont need a full decks screen so thats cool.
What about house paints and such. High gloss canned paints? I have a gloss brown without the "high" and it shines nice but a high gloss would be $$$ i think. I guess ill try that when i have a deck screen.

when i'm doing a bunch of decks the same base color, i use auto paint with a spray gun and air compressor. looks great and dries hard as a rock.

| yeah, but if you're running any kind of volume, the spray paint gets expensive. add a couple of bucks per deck between the base and the gloss. |

Here's what I do for the base color:
After the board is completely shaped and sanded I
1.)Spray a coat of sealer
2.)Spray 1 coat of primer
3.)Spray several thin coats of paint
Then I add the graphics and one good coat of gloss.

If you want professional style graphics that are glossy, hard, and don't scratch off with your fingernail, you need to use Nazdar solvent based inks. Solvent based inks are the only inks that are going to give you that glossy professional graphic. you can use spraypaint, if you want to do a stencil.but if you're screening, you need nazdar solvent based. Pain in the arse for cleanup, but will do you right

| and how do you prep a board when you're just screening over natural wood? sand, gloss, screen, gloss? |
