I was looking at that, there are options for different qualities of silk. What type do you recommend. . .referring to this site:

O yeah, i am looking for a fabric where I am not doing more than one color screening. Just using black ink on light color shirts.

depending on what kind of inks your using,(waterbased, or plastisol) For the waterbased i would recomend, 8xx or 10xx multifilament, and for plastisol, ultrasoft 86-305 monofilament,it's all going to depend on how much ink is going to be needed to push through the screen, for ex. if fine lines are needed in your design then go with a tighter weave such as 6xx or 8xx, if your going to be printing a larger area go with a more loose weave such as 12xx. hope this helps you!

what does 8xx or 12xx, ect... mean? Why is 8xx cheaper than something like a 12xx if it is meshed tighter?

they are the fabric mesh count per linear inch, I would maybe suggest getting a assembled frame if your just starting out, it may be alot easier, and less hectic for you plus you can get the feel of the tension it needs to be.

The premade frames like like 25 bucks, that rediculous. We can build one for it looks like 5 bucks for each one. I am going to buy the fabric from that site. What are the advantages or disadvanted of the different ones, like 8xx, 10xx, or 12xx.
We are doing basic designs with black pictures and text on light colored 50/50 polyester/cotton t-shirts. What do you suggest we should get?

Thanks

Good screens are all about tension. I don't think making your own screens is a good way to go. Get a reten ($30+) or just buy a wooden frame prestretched. In my local supplier shop they run under $20.

You need good off-contact and tight screens to make it easier on you while printing.

We use 12XX multifilament. We also make our own screens and stretch them ourselves. Personally, I think it's really easy to make and stretch the screens. I find the hard part is getting the burned image on the screen to be nice and crisp with homemade set-ups. Got it goin now, but it took a few trial and errors.
