Here's the deal. I am starting an online skate shop, www.recessionskates.com. I would like to throw this out to fellow S&Bers...

As a board company owner my biggest issue is getting shops to give my product a chance. At this point in time it seems to me that skateboarding has become full of corporate douchebaggery. I don't think that board companies need to blow shop owners to get their decks sold. It should be about quality and demand. That said, if you have a company and would like for me to sell your stuff send a message to [email protected].

I will even do drop shipping if that works best for you. In case you're not familiar with this practice, basically you send me pics of the products and I provide a sales outlet via the website. When your product sells I would simply email you the details and you could handle shipping etc... This would allow you a larger margin as I would not have to carry it as inventory.

Hell if you're a shop owner and are looking for a place to advertise here is a deal for you. You start carrying Honesty and I will advertise your shop on both sites free.

Don't worry I'm not out to rip anyone off, I am just trying to build a grass roots community of skater owned and operated companies. We little guys need to rally together to get through this economy.

The name strikes me as negative and lacking foresight.

I was kinda making a comment on the world economy and skateboard industry with the naming. Hopefully it won't matter too much as I have already purchased the domain etc... I did pole some kids and they thought it was ok. Then again one of them told me " I would ride a skateboard with a gay cowboy on it if the shape was good" so I don't really know. Something to ponder I guess. I would probably drive more traffic to a site called gay cowboy, but I doubt skateboards are the type of "wood" that most of the site visitors would be looking for.

Re-session is a good name actually, it would work really well for a non-profit. Maybe we could start a web-site where people could donate used (not broken) decks etc and these could be refurbed and sold for $10 plus shipping or something. Enough to make it worthwhile, yet still non-profit.

Anyone down?

If so please don't steal idea.
