Alas, I don't run the shop I'm in right now. Could never get into the sales end of it. The last time I owned my own shop I just ran a small six foot coveyor and an eight color press in my basement.
Thinking about starting another one up soon. It's more fun to print stuff for yourself and you bros than for a boss and his clients.

VIVA LOS SCREENBOYS!

haha, screenboys is rad. I need to get on it and start producing my stuff. I agree with the fun being in making your own stuff, had printshop in school for 3 years then when to work as a co-op job and it sucked ass. I liked making my own stuff way more than someone elses.

The heat gun will do fine but it will take you a lot of time to cure each print and if you're printing more than one color it's only good if you're using water based inks. With plastisol, just forget it.
If you're willing to take the time you can easily build your own flash cure unit. Simply put, a flash unit is a infrared heating panel on a stand. Of course theres more to it but with $70 or $80 you can build a rough, basic flash unit that will do the job just fine. I built my first one for $55. Check out http://www.screenprinters.net. Make a post on the forums for home built flash units. You'll get at least of couple of replys with plans for it.

I'd say we we're a small shop. I got my conveyor from the mfg, it was a promo/demo they were testing stuff with. Just have to call around and find a good deal.

But the home-made flash unit is a good way to start off. Just BE CAREFUL, I've know a few folks that have burned plattens but using a flash to full cure. Best to make a rack or stand of some kind.

I never understood how the rack helps? It looks to me like the shirts hang but dont the prints touch each other and how does it help in drying? I wish i had a damn conveyor dryer, haha. I had access to all the good equiptment in high school, damn.
