I was a wee one in the 80s, but I have worked as a chef. I would venture that you would take the hot dog (uncooked) wrap the cheese around it and set aside. Then take the potato and using a coring blade, typically used for apples, and core the potato. Pour a small amount of beer into the potato, let it sit so it soaks up a bit. Insert the cheese covered weiner, bake wrapped in foil at 425 until potato is baked. Just a guess. |

Steve if i had to guess a year, I would say between 86-89 but I'm not sure exactly. I've looked on the thrasher website and they aren't up to those years yet. Mike that kinda sounds close but I think there may be more ingredients missing. I'll try it though and see if it works.
Another recipie I remember, was indy cross sandwiches. It was basically fried bologna sandwiches. with the slits cut in the bologna so it resembles the Independent Trucks Cross. The reason I mentioned this was that it was around the same time as the other recipe. so if anyone remembers that one it will help narrow down the year. |

Ah, that's a bummer, I've only got up to '85. I'm sure someone here must have those years. |

And wouldn't be rad if all those recipes were in a book to buy? That would be a cool addition to mrs-g's cookery book shelf. |

Ok I found it from the November 1987 issue of Thrasher
Spuds McSkater
1 potato (big)
1 hot dog
2 slices of cheese
2 spoons hot sauce
1/2 cup bud light
take the potato and cut a hotdog sized hole through the middle. Wrap the Cheese around the hotdog and shove it in the potato. put slits all over the potato and soak it in the beer. Wrap it tightly in foil. Shove it into the oven (preheated to 390) for 20 minutes. Chomp when finished. (Recipie submitted by Corey Easton S. Lake Tahoe, CA)
It doesn't say if you are supposed to mix the beer and hot sauce or just use the hot sauce as a condiment. and when I finally try this I will not be using bud light but I will post a review when I try it.
