Around our ramp I had layed a bunch of sliver infested sheets of cdx to try and keep the dirt off the ramp and to give you somewhere else to go when someone was riding. my kids ended up using the area to practise ollies on and stuff so we added a ride on shotgun rail. They were gone for a couple of days so I decided to surprise them when some better wood.....well things got a bit out of hand and I ended up adding on a lot of stuff. while walking the aisle at homedepot I spotted some 1/4" luan underlayment for moisture areas. 10 bucks a sheet made it practically the same as masonite. I then bought some 5/8 cdx and a bunch of 1/4 skip sheeting. I raked and leveled the area then layed down some road fabric. I made a web frame with the skip sheeting that was 2' on center. I filled in the gaps in the web frame with 3/4 scraps. covered it the 5/8 then the luan, making sure to offset all the seems. Not sure how long it will last hence the title disposable add-on. my plan is to take it apart for winter and seal the luan with thompsons water seal. took a total of about 8 hrs to construct using some old mtb ramps that I had sitting around.
the ramp flat follows the slight curve of the ground
having a hip now is nice
its a hillbilly set up for sure but hey...we're hillbillies so it works |

so far so good. kids love, I love it but the thompsons water seal left some slippery crap on our wheels( we couldn't wait any longer) hopefully it won't continue once it dries all the way. |
