Imagine my chagrin when I discovered that not only have both Atomic Fireballs and Lemonheads somehow become chewy (and Jawbreakers are absent entirely--likely too many busted molar lawsuits over the years), but Alexander the Grape has morphed into Grapeheads and Cherry Clan has become Cherryheads. One of the best parts about Cherry Clan was laughing at the inexplicable Chinese caricatures on the box. And speaking of the box, they're now glued shut on both ends (presumably to prevent tampering) and so you can no longer make a whistle out of the box.
I was just talking to my wife about cherry chan friday... and how PC we have become... I liked the chewy ones... and I love me some lemon heads.... |

I had never heard of Cherry Chan until you mentioned it, but now Cherry Clan suddenly, after 25 years, makes perfect sense to me.
They PC'ed the name from Cherry Chan but kept the Chinese theme.
On that note, I'm going to consume one of the remaining boxes right now. |

Why did I just think of these?
Because they're delicious. |

Our little community does a big Halloween festival every year (I'm really surprised they haven't gone all "PC" and call it "The Fall Festival or some other lame shit). Anywho...the folks that were working were just putting monster fistfuls of candy (all donated by the locals) into the bags. Between the 2 of them, easily over 10 pounds of candy. Crazy. Good stuff too. Excuse me while I go rummage.
I realize you live in the middle of BFE so you might not have any alternative, but I just can't understand how a child would rather go to a Community Halloween Event at the mall or the police station or the park instead of trick or treating. If my children ever make that choice, I'm drowning them.
Furthermore, I will never allow them to wear ready-made, storebought costumes. Purchased props or elements of the costume? Sure. But no Yoda-in-a-box.
I just read this thread. TGM, I agree 100%. |
