Sure, yeah....he put more of a slant to it, and drew the letters out all big, with "skateboards" at the end like that, but that's how type-setting was done then.
Cut-n-paste, or brush-n-ink, if it needed a tweak.
Same thing was done with the Duane Peters font, which was originally invented in the early 1950's, in France. |

I know I'm not the only one on here who's seen these fonts around, so if you do enough digging, you can figure it out.
For now we can assume that one of them is called Santa Carla.
It's pretty rad that Kirk put that together.
Somebody had to do that with every font out there, originally.
(Jim Phillips' wife was an extra in Lost Boys, by the way.) |

The numbers are WAY off!
Check the poster for the big deal that Santa Cruz made a while back for ASR, with all the historical Santa Cruz team riders' names written in the font.
I've never needed the font, so I never looked for it, but I needed the Duane Peters font for a project, and, after looking through some stuff that Jim Phillips gave me, I realized I had the original zip-a-tone sheets that he used on the first Duane Peters graphic. After that, Jim enlarged that same font(via brush and ink) to use on the following decks for Duane. |

Count, help a ninja out. Can't you just have Mr. Phillips just ink the numerals for Kirk?
I kid, |
