I've been using my digital video camera to capture alot of old VHS video, and I got one together that shows some spots in my hometown. Being from a small town, there's a lot of crumbly surfaces and not many good skate spots, but there are a few.
These sessions are from 1990-1993, before popsicle sticks and moves you see nowadays, so this'll be boring to alot of you. I still have one of these completes, trucks ground down to the axle and deck beat to hell, and standing on it now I'm not sure how I even handled it under my feet.
Anywhoo...

Yep, post office curb, steps of church across the street, and parking lot and curb at bldg behind the PO. That curb and lot behind the PO are now off limits, as was the actual PO grounds, as the lady who now owns the property is a bitch at many levels. She cordoned off the lot so no one could park there to hit downtown business' unless the borough gave her money; she took down the bridge over the creek so no one would use her sidewalk as a throughway, etc. I haven't skated there in a loooong time, but from what I hear you'll get an earful and even a fine if your caught there more than once.
And swelbow, yes... I wanted to do nothing but skate. There was so much flat ground that I got into freestyle in the early 80's, but when streetstyle came along it opened up so much more to do with the nothing that we had in our town. lol |
