As I reflect on the history of skateboarding I often end up thinking to myself..what decks from these new skool days will be collectors items in 20-30 years? What do you think?

safe rule with collecting anything..only collect schnit YOU like...don't worry about what everyone else is collecting..that way,if you try and sell it,and get "stuck" with it,it has personal value and if it gains momentum monetary-wise,you done did good,,,i'll tell you what..

p.s....i heard peeps are buying c&d stuff like WILDFIRE

every few years this thread comes around - last time I recall the worthy investment was the Element Bam Margera HIM 1.
Now?
I agree with Rob PLUS:

This reminds me of that show "American Pickers" - although WAY choreographed they do have one thing right: the old, ORIGINAL stuff will always hold value, is getting WAY harder to find and will be valuable above and beyond any reproduction.

Likely stuff that will hold nostalgia for them. Is there anything out there these days that looks cool? Or is selling well? Sad to say but it might be specific shop boards that people are now most attached to.

I think skateboard collecting has gone the way of baseball cards and comic books. The decks from the golden and bronze ages will hold their values and possibly increase- they were made to be ridden and people didn't buy them to collect/invest in back then. Modern decks are still made to skate, but there are production runs that are just for collectors and the market is more saturated w/decks for riding and collecting then BITD. Buying current decks for collecting and speculating is not really a great investment idea in my opinion, buy them to enjoy and if they happen to become collectable, all the better.

If it's china made, use it for emergency firewood in the future.

i'm telling you guyz now like i have been every so often...skateboard decks WILL get graded on a scale from 1-10 in terms of condition just like baseball cards...psa graded....you will buy a $50 deck, send it to get graded at psa, then come back with a gem mint 10 roskopp camo face reissue that will sell for $500 on ebay....it'll happen
