If you want to look like an inmate, go for it.
I have a buddy...he's cool, got a hot wife and he's trying to be an actor. He has the WORST rookie tattoos ever....all over too. This is why he never acted for reals.
I have a couple that aren't great, but they can be fixed. Then I got tatted by Kat Von D and it sucks, go fucking figure |

Getting a nice tattoo is definitely the desired goal but the experieince is also a big part of it. If you can give a friend a chance to hone his skill and have a few laughs in the process I don't see any problem having something less than perfect. Just get it on a less conspicuaous spot.
A great tattoo is in the eye of the beholder. Look at classic flash from legends like Ed Hardy and Sailor Jerry, a lot of people would see their work as sloppy. People have come to expect a tattoo to look like a perfect sticker. Some of the best tattoos are the gritty, pick it and stick it type pieces. |
