At 8/67 (model '68 ).

Here are some impressions from the 60year celebration of the Bus at it's "birthplace".

A TV show made a restauration of a Bus and it was painted by Volkswagens own restauration center. Same production line, old knowledge and modern materials. Here you can take a rare look at my Dad's (handles the dispatch and delivery of cars logistics) fellow workers at the restauration center:

73 Super Beetle was my 1st car.

I bought it when I was 15 and just learning how to drive. So easy to learn stick shift on too.

I totaled it when I was 17 and doing donuts in the mall parking lot after a big snowfall. I hit a patch of ice under the snow and hit a concrete parking lamp base at full speed. It crumbled like an accordion.

I believe '67 was the first year for dual circuit master cylinder.

Theres an adapter kit to put a dual circuit one in an earlier bus. I did it, it seems cool.

The worlds raddest thing ever was the conversion to eliminate the stock bus tranny.

I dont know if busses were meant to bury the speedometer needle, but its cool as shit when they do.

73 super beetle with 2 by ? floors. Hit a puddle and you were riding in the water. Damn fun to drive. A woman hit me and the insurance guys gave me 1500 to fix it. Shaved the bumpers new pumpkin orange paint, new tires and wheels. When I drove it by the agent so he could see the repairs he asked if it was a different car.

It was the second car I had and a daily driver to replace my 67 Mustang . My Dad had a good laugh when he told me to check the radiator before I drove it. I looked it over for almost an hour before he told me they didn't have one.

If I can ever get off my lazy (broke) ass I will start to build my dream, or maybe I can just start printing my own money...
Eventually going to go with a Oxyboxer 2110 block, megasquirted efi, IRS tranny. Will be able to get 250 hp easy with this setup.
The wife wants to get a late model Vanagon Westfalia, so it'll be a while before I'm able to drop anymore money on my '66.

I had to settle for a 1700 with dual carbs and a mild cam.

Still plenty quick for a bus.
