Redline 3 piece cranks are spendy. The forklifter bars are sweet but I kept this bike stock. Besides the seat (originals came with a white seat) this is exactly as the bike was sold in 1988 |

Yah....OG 3 pc cranks are spendy, I got a set of power bites that look identical to the GT power series & the only cost $90 compared to $400-500 for a set of OG
I just got a retro GT 26" cruiser for cheap on Craigslist....I need to snap some pics, I've been commuting everywhere by sk8 or bike lately |

With bikes it's kind of like "go for the stuff you had" vs "go for the stuff you wanted" |

I had a banana seat bike, So I got something I wanted
I don't see how dude collect bikes, Like we collect skateboards. Bike take up so much space & they're not as easy to display
I had a dope GT performer but I sold it because it took up too much space...I couldn't justify having it in my garage & not using it. A grown ass man riding an all white bike looked kind of creepy
I have 2 bike....my road bike Bianchi for when I putting in some miles & my 26" cruiser when I rolling around the beach |

Bikes are cool for the "tinker" factor. Some guys like dialing in a caliper or a rotor. Some guys even build their own wheel sets. You don't get that with skateboards. You can buy one project bike, spend some time fixing it up and then sell it for the next one. It has more elements of a hobby then skateboard collecting. |

looks like it.
here's my latest. the insurance company sure came through on this one!!! (some asshole stole my old commuter from my front porch).
its overkill for a commuter, but here it is...
2015 Giant Defy Advanced Pro 0
full carbon
Di2 (thats the electric shit) ultegra groupset... the batteries are in the freaking seat tube?!?!?!
140mm hydraulic disc brakes
cateye stealth computer (its got all the bells and whistles, and integrates with the ANT+ sensors embedded in the frame)
Look Keo Max2 carbon pedals.
sick.
but the interesting thing, is its all so new and whizbang... only 4 components are compatible with my 'good bike' (2012 assembled BMC)... the seat, the handlebars, the pedals, the tyres/tubes...
thats nuts... Nothing else can be swapped over!!!
cant wait to get it in the hills though. 30-28 is the lowest ratio (39-23 is the lowest i can get to on the BMC). ill be able to granny my way up anything!!! |

before you ask...
weight wise, its a basket case...
8.2kg. and dropping weight on it looks tricky.
change out the rims for carbon.
lighter tyres and tubes.
carbon bars and stem.
lighter seat.
but thats about it.
if any of you MTB guys know lighter disc braking systems than the Shimano R785 (that will work with road shifters), then i'd love to hear about them. |
